I'm linking up to Amanda's Dilemma Party to get help on my mantle. Not sure what to do...think not using enough shapes or wall is not right color...not sure WHAT to do. Suggestions?

Taking it one unfinished project at a time...

I love the second arrangement! Maybe you could place a raised bowl, like a fruit bowl in the center where there is the open spot?
Thanks, Xazmin...I like that one, too, but you're right. There is an open spot. Will try that.
I actually like the foundations you have for both arrangements. :)
I think maybe it needs a little more color?? Could you try spray painting one or both of the frames (or the lovely metal piece) an unexpected color to give the wall a pop of excitement?
Maybe see what it looks like to lower the metal piece so it looks like it's resting on the mantel and then add some candles for a a soft look.
I love the green topiaries. You could also add a bowl or large apothecary with nuts, acorns, or tiny gourds/pumpkins for a fresh fall look.
Great space though!! :)
Thanks for joining the party. Hope you'll visit again soon. :)
I like the first arrangement - the topiary are great :)
I would try rotating the largest frame 90 degrees, and bringing the candles sticks in just a hair. Then I would add something with bright color to the bowl, maybe some faux lemons or bright red flowers, keep the bowl off center though, it looks good there.
i like number 2
I love Alanna Rose's idea of flipping the larger frame about 90 degrees.
I also wondered if you hung the larger frame the way it is and placed the metal piece inside so that it was framed how that would look.
Maybe paint the walls a different color so that the mantle piece itself would pop.
@Amanda - love the color idea!
@Alanna - looking for faux fruit. Target had some but I was too "frugal" to buy
@Tam - LOVE your blog...I am in DFW, too, so love when you say where you shop.
@About - You can't see it but the wall is painted :( Painting darker soon.
I like the first one and also agree on turning the taller frame. And what about painting them? I think you need some color up there.
